Some weddings unfold like a beautiful memory. For Jackie and Jack, it all began with a cocktail.
While visiting her sister Katie in New York City—whose wedding we had the joy of planning—Jackie joined her for a drink at the newly opened Ritz-Carlton. What was meant to be a simple evening quickly became something more. Jackie was instantly struck by the space: the moody lighting, layered textures, and a layout that felt more like an intimate lounge than a typical hotel bar. That inspired moment quietly became the foundation for what would shape her and Jack’s wedding day.
Rather than a traditional reception, Jackie envisioned something with the ease and energy of a perfectly designed evening out—chic, refined, and full of personality. The inspiration? Sexy, swanky New York lounge meets intimate Kansas City celebration.
A glimpse into the snapshots that set the tone for the creative direction we carried through our design deck.
From concept to creation, the mockup made its way into production.
We transformed Mission Hills Country Club into a space that whispered sophistication, while still feeling deeply welcoming. Lounge vignettes replaced standard reception seating, sculptural florals by Blue Bouquet brought softness and movement, and styled structures gave the ballroom the illusion of an upscale restaurant. A black-and-white palette set a sleek, modern tone, while subtle tropical accents and warm lighting created depth and dimension.
One of the anchors of the visual story was the striking “Cuckoo on Magnolia Grandiflora” artwork, a motif we thoughtfully wove throughout the celebration—from envelope liners and cocktail linens to custom linen napkins at the head table and the oversized seating chart display. It served as both design signature and sentimental thread, tying the day back to that original inspiration at the Ritz.
Menus were imprinted on soft leather and personalized with each guest’s name—an editorial-style detail that elevated the tablescape and made the experience feel thoughtful and intimate. Catherine Rhodes Photography captured it all with her signature warmth and clarity, preserving every polished moment and candid joy.
From the quiet anticipation of the morning to a dance floor lit up with espresso martinis and light-up cowboy hats, the evening unfolded with natural elegance and expressive style. It was more than just beautifully designed—it was lived-in and loved-in, a true reflection of Jackie and Jack.
Just as she imagined.
