Romantic Kansas City Wedding | Loose Park Rose Garden & InterContinental Kansas City on the Plaza

NSE Wedding, Real Weddings

Planning by Nellie Sparkman Events

Where do I even begin?! Madison and Jay’s fall wedding was definitely one I’ll never forget! Getting to re-live this day through Laura Foote’s images brings back all of the emotions and perfectly tells the story of their wedding day. We had a top-notch team of vendors who all came together to make Madison and Jay’s vision come to life on a sunny October day in Kansas City.

During my venue scouting with Madison, I threw out the crazy idea of parading guests after a Loose Park ceremony all the way to The InterContinental Hotel on the Plaza (only a half of mile walk). Madison and Jay were ecstatic and immediately on board with my crazy vision. We reached out to the Cobras Marching Band to lead our little parade and we were so excited when we they were available!

Madison and Jay first welcomed their guests to an intimate cocktail hour at The InterContinental, and then guests were transported to the beautiful Loose Park Rose Garden for an outdoor ceremony in front of Laura Conyers Smith Fountain. Surrounded by beautiful, vibrant rose bushes made for the most romantic ceremony location I have ever witnessed! After the ceremony, our vision came to life, and 200+ guests followed the dancing newlyweds and the Marching Cobras through the streets of Kansas City back to The InterContinental. It was one of those “holy smokes we did this” moments!!!

None of this would have been possible without the hark work of so many people that I trust and rely on. Ashlie and her team at Blue Bouquet, Carolyn with UltraPom, and my team were working magic in the ballroom while Laura Foote was capturing stunning outdoor shots and then directing/leading a parade of guests towards the hotel made my heart filled with pride. As I saw Madison and Jay come around the corner, my eyes swelled up with tears – these are the moments I live for!

I love when couples add a piece of love from their families’ history to special parts of their day. Madison wore part of an heirloom wedding gown that was first worn by her grandmother in 1943, and then passed down to her aunt and mother on their wedding days. Madison, who works as a business development executive for the bridal designer Essense of Australia, altered the original gown (see photo below) and wore the bottom half of the dress as a skirt for her wedding day. It was such a beautiful, sentimental touch that Madison and her family will hold on to forever! She shared the story of the gown along with photos at the reception.Planning by Nellie Sparkman EventsPlanning by Nellie Sparkman Events
